The origonal engine was a 350, i used the 350 distributer on the 305 and the vacuum advance does not seem to be working. First , find the problem area on the vacuum diagram.
Autozone�s web site has vacuum diagrams of 5th generation elkies, but i am not sure about your model.
Vacuum line diagram for chevy 305. I should know, i had an 85 s10 pickup with the 2.8l. Any help on the vaccum advance would be appreciated also. It�s a 305 going into an 86 el camino, which the previous owners had the forethought to partly dismantle over the years.
I have them hooked up but the engine is idleing to fast and when i put it into gear it stalls out. The timing should be set at 6 degrees before top dead center only for california emission equipped vehicles, and unless the engine code was ccc (check the emission label if the vehicle still has one) or had federal emissions then the ignition timing should be set at 8. On this truck the vacuum is pretty basic, im guessing you have a 305 (5.0) or a 350 (5.7), on the front of the engine compartment near the fan shroud somewhere (if it is still intact) you should have a diagram of all the vac lines.
